James Kalm has been a fan of the work of John Wesley since stumbling across the actual paintings, during their exhibition at the famous Don Judd building at 101 Spring Street, in Soho. Having seen black and whit repros in art books had not prepared your reporter for the mysterious allure exerted by these images. Using a very limited palette of blues, pinks and grays Wesley has fashioned a world of erotic understatement and comic narrative. "Alice's Floor" which is composed of works produced between 1977 and 1990, displays Wesley's engagement with several contemporaneous movements that include Pattern&Decorative as well as New Image. A musical accompaniment of the Rolling Stones' "Heart Breaker" by "Super Bad Brad" aka Brad Prowly was captured live on Driggs Avenue at North 7th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on June 14, 2012.
