Creative Global Network for the Visual Arts

From a broadcast copy of a short documentary film produced with CBC television Canada using photographs from my exhibit "Facade", a photo-essay on female impersonators working in Toronto discos in the 1970's. The film combines interview clips with the Drag queens describing their love of performance and some of their songs to create a sense of the emotional highs and lows of the world inhabited by Drag Queens. It's set in a time when Female Impersonators were viewed more as a threat to notions of straight "masculinity" rather than as gay entertainers.
