House 44 is an international residency programme developed through a joint collaboration between The Delfina Foundation, The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, Tashkeel, and Art Dubai, with the support of the British Council.
International artists Abbas Akhavan (Iran/Canada) and Tobias Collier (UK) have been in residence at House 44 in Al Bastakiya, Dubai with Emirati artists Shamma Al Amri, Shaikha Al Mazrou and Hind Bin Demaithan.
For Art Week, House 44 will be transformed into an exhibition space showcasing the artistic outcomes of the residencies, alongside works produced through previous Delfina residencies by Basel Abbas + Ruanne Abou-Rahme (Palestine) courtesy of Rose Issa Projects, Rana Begum (UK), Nisrine Boukhari (Syria) in collaboration with AllArtNow, and Nathaniel Rackowe (UK). Meanwhile at Art Dubai, two of House 44's residents Abbas Akhavan and Shaikha al Mazrou have been commissioned to make new works as part of Art Dubai Projects, the fair's not-for-profit programme, which also features two former Delfina residents Hrair Sarkissian and Oraib Toukan. Works by the remaining House 44 residents can be seen at stand A4 with Tashkeel, one of our partners on House 44.
