update 24 aug - Lebanon 2013

> >due to bombings in northern Lebanon on friday 23 aug - minus 5 have delayed the opening of the exhibtion until 30th august as a sign of repsect for the bereaved families involved.

all too horrifically - the troubles that beset the region both in neighbouring Syria + Israel now return to Lebanon with new bombings + fatalities. prior to the 10 days events in Lebanon , the site specific installation pieces to be exhibited at minus 5 - Beirut namely "In*ci*dent  / in-ci-dent-t : an installation piece using abandoned car tyres now perhaps look all too appropriate as cars, buildings + people are blown up , discarded , left lying in the streets post-blasts.

life imitating art or the other way around. ?

Project: influences + overview -

in the light of the tumultuous past 24 months - where political + economic forces caused seismic shudders across the global financial system , combined with the deeply inspirational protests, + regime change enacted during the Arab Spring across Yemen, Egypt, Libya + now Syria. this project exhibition is a reaction to these events in 2011 + draws inspiration from actions of people across the globe who feel they can enact social change. "Democracy" as a concept + social reality - continues to highlight major disjunctions + ask profound questions across the globe - be it across the middle east, china, russia, latin america or europe. the Project is dedicated to these people of regime change - irrespective of their cultural background or religion.

the key themes of "NORM/No-madic Lives" is that of trans-global cultural exchange of ideas : their similarities + disjunctions utilising actual gallery spaces + online promotion + interaction

the project is intended to highlight not only pan-global artistic links + expression but also the innovative use of digital technology + contemporary communication modes ( digital art media ,email, web-site interaction) in new + innovative modes of cultural exchange across borders

travelling from city to city over the next 12-24 months.

"NORM/No-madic Lives" is an self-funded project utilisiing digital media, communication + expression outside of the traditional modes of gallery representation or control..

plus - w/ other evolving Video works - by Mack + Hargreaves as well as  works from across the globe:

i am seeking talented can -do artists, galleries, media for approximately 4 more further selected artists (possibly more or less or evolving) to potentially exhibit in all venues is the intention

all interested artists please note :

COSTS to participating artists are purely on a split cost basis for any Gallery hire + own postage.

as chief project Curator - i have no charge . this is a purely experimental + exploratory project where all artists look set to gain in far wider global location exposure, dialogue + wider exposure.

a key issue needs to be pointed out to you + the final chosen gallery spaces in each city:

gnerally - few of the chosen artists will be physically travelling to attend the exhibitions. all artists are emerging artists without (to my knowledge at least) without any funding  or means to pay for the travel to the cities.

this project is self-funded punk-rock /DIY type project.  but the international exposure + cv enhancing quality of the project should appeal to all pan globally minded  artists.

Artists - .
please contact me with your thoughts.

i will be the Projects chief Curator to organise , oversee + select the final most innovative + interesting works that fir the central themes of the Project.
