Hackney Empire Theatre’s Marie Lloyd Bar is pleased to announce a solo show of Brighton based painter Enzo Marra on view from 15th April – 28th April 2009. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, 15th April from 6pm onwards. The public is invited and all are welcome.
Having been involved in painting since graduating with an MA in Fine Art from the University of Brighton in 2001 and having tired of the safe figurative route, Enzo Marra has allowed elements of mythology and bestial metamorphosis to concentrate the relevance of the individuals he paints onto canvas, sculpts, collages, or merely draws. The use of contrasting hues within environment and textural brush strokes adding to their impact and to their viability as social commentaries. Influenced by far ranging artists, from Soutine to Beckmann, Schiele to Giacometti, Goya to El Greco, the concept of expression and vitality within pigment and message is visible in all his works. With his works having been shown across the UK and Europe in group and solo shows, they have also found their way into highly prestigious private collections.
Feel free to come to the opening on the 15th April at 6pm. Enzo Marra will be present.
