Gallery Arcturus

In regards to call and response, no one does it better than Gallery Arcturus in Toronto.

For three months during summer 2009 monuments were set up in the space and artists were invited in to work on collages, mixed media works, and paintings on canvas side by side Head Painter and art veteran Deborah Harris, whilst listening to an electronic soundscape installed as part of the exhibition.

Through sound, dialogue, and interaction… Continue

Leyla Farzadi Article Case Study

For those artists, writers, and students who are not familiar with my work. My work is almost never political. After the protests in Iran on june 17th I spoke to a friend at Amnesty International who inspired me with her words. I researched the protests and wrote a letter to the head of the judiciary in tehran, a city that should have been a part of the free thinking world a long time ago. I used a form of pressurised language to notify the people at the head of the judiciary, specifically… Continue

A Hommage To My Colleagues

Personal Notes On Art.... It seems odd to format a hommage to some of my colleagues on a art magazine website. However lack of a large commercial site with a much needed administrator and also the self realisation that the artists I have worked with since 1994 come from so many different backgrounds makes it hard for me to realise who would write down our collaborations in one place? Probably no one. Here is a hommage to some of the people I have worked with and also worked for, in no… Continue

Note To The Public

I was recently asked to write a description for a small series of paintings I have made for the British Art Academy called "4 Day Fast To Stop War"

In general I don't like writing about individual paintings.

So I won't.

What I think is pertinent. Also severely overdue. Is a review as to why there is a war in Iraq. I remember following it very closely in 2003 and 2004 in all of the newspapers in Toronto. Then buying books about the subject written by… Continue

Cosmic Connection With The World

After a very large portion of talks with artists in the South West Uk I have stumbled upon some disturbing information. Not only are all the major beliefs in the world - at least the ones people fight over - totally based on narratives for which very little concrete and provable source material exists, but, to make matters worse, those fighting in the middle east are not fighting over the difference between the many documents within the muslim groups and jewish groups, including the many… Continue

Review From Jazzdimensions Magazine

Trio Résistances - "New Day Volume 1"

Contemporary Works by Luke Gilliam-Adam Daudrich

Continue

The Best Painter On Artreview

Below is a message I sent out today to a group of artists who have work here on this website:

Hello everyone, I am going to post a short one paragraph blog about this (subjective) subject. I received a comment today that myself and Stephen Plount are (possibly ) (or could be ) the best painters on artreview.

I do not agree. The part of the message that implies 'some of my paintings contain interesting ideas' is something I am huuuuuuuuuuugely thankful for - to the… Continue
