If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Photography
I am...
I am from Boston, NY & LA. I come from a family of countless artists. Been doing photography since a young girl and was a professional dancer. Disabled by illness and chronic pain for last 13 years.
About my artwork
By letting go of my story and the element of time, I attempt to capture the essence of reality. Arts that transform consciousness have been a deep interest of mine since a young girl. I am fascinated with the relationship between the viewer and the viewed, the Seer and the seen and hope to bring the observer into a portal unknown and yet vastly familiar.

As a former professional classical Indian dancer, I relentlessly trained to infuse every movement with the sacred by moving from within. Now, as a result of disabling chronic pain, the dance had to stop but the movement continues with the camera in a distilled form.
Living a hermit’s life due to pain allows me very narrow windows of time to photograph. When I do, I see a world throbbing with energy and color; a magical, luminescent organism of evolving life. Like a child at play, whirling with the camera eliminates me the “artist” in a fusion of subject and object. This form of capture takes the material world components and by combining color, texture, light and form, in effect, displays their real essence. I believe this challenges what we see as solid and separate and like the Impressionists pushes the boundaries of time and fleeting perceptions of reality.

In the act of creation, I believe there should be complete freedom from concepts. This moment encompasses the whole as an individual and as part of a collective if there is as little effort on the part of the artist as possible. Most of the artistic decisions are implemented in post-processing. I look for the photos that reflect my artistic tastes and this normally means unusual color schemes, geometry, texture and fluidity of movement. Sometimes the photo will have the seed of what I want and needs developing and at other times it perfectly reflects my vision.

If I am succeeding the viewer will feel a shift in consciousness, an elevated perception and an invitation to allow the true Self to emerge. The images will also feel uncannily familiar as if they are reflections of ourselves. So in the end, the world is the palette and it is motion, the Seer and not time, that I seek to honor.
Artists I like
Picasso, Van Gogh, Miro, Rothko, Nicholas Roerich, Chagall, Gorky, CE Chambers, Fanny Munsell Chambers, Taleen Batalian, Joe McNally, Art Wolf, Steven McCurry, Frida Kahlo, Nicholas Roerich, Kandinsky, Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Georgia O'Keefe, Rodin, Alfred Stieglitzz, Modigliani, Jane Filer, Jan Zrzavý, Antonín Procházka, Josef Čapek, Emil Filla, Diane Arbus, Franz Kline, Greg Gorman, Henri Matisse
