I am...
Was born in Paris. He studied fine art and Art History at St Martin’s in London, completing a Masters in Photography at The London School of Communication in 2009.
His principal connection has been with the visual art world, and for the past 5 years, photography in particular, having had several exhibitions in the capital and the rest of Europe.Pascal is now looking to have some of his numerous philosophical stories published as well as a book of monochromes and text about Venice entitled “Et in Arcadia Ego”:www.pascalchiaroscuro.co.uk

He is presently researching the origin of the photographic phenomenon in the context of human evolution under the title: Ontology of an Illusion. While still living in Paris, his photographic practice began to diverge from a the status quo of visual tradition which inspired him to move to London and embrace wider experimentation. He continues to translate text in French and English and teaches portrait and life drawing intermittently besides writing continuously.
Now committed to collaborate with Doomed Gallery as a curator and Press writer.
About my artwork
In my search for the interiority of human interaction which I detect in all contextual and constructed manifestations, I found myself literally stripping layers away from the appearance of authenticity suggested by the photographic 'portrait' and in this process of peeling off, unearthed what one might refer to as fossils of personal history. The domain of the inanimate also plays a great part in this as a reflector and receptacle of memory. Several projects originate in the tradition of still life, the silent exponent of our earthly presence while dismantling the paragons of empirical presumption and random actuality. I have concentrated my research on the monochromatic analogue medium and continue to unravel its multi layered universe through the agency of chemical and psycho-analytical creative symbiosis residing between the apparently real, The hypothesis and the invisible. newer projects issue from multi media, time based enquiries and experimentions.
Artists I like
The anonymous cave painters and icon creators, Giotto, Masaccio, Rembrandt, Hieronymus Bosch, Bruegel the Elder,Albrecht Dürer Niepce, Daguerre, Nadar, Visconti, Passolini, Sigmar Polke, Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse, Bertold Brecht, Vincent Van Gogh, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, the Starn Twins, Steichen,Steiglitz, Camille Claudel....
