If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Digital, Drawing, Painting, Photography
Henriette (Jetty) Busch, German by Birth (Berlin), daughter of a forgotten and long-dead artist, Eddy Smith who lived and worked in Berlin. I have lived in England for over 20 years. I do
paintings on canvas & paper, in mixed media, also digital prints and a combination of paintings and digital work.
About my artwork
My work is about juxtaposition and creating new and altered meanings. I explore how parts of images, fields of colour, parts of paintings, photographs or digital images juxtapose with one another to change the original image or meaning completely, yet retain an recognizable element of the original.
These fractured images hover and merge with color fields. They evoke the experience of perception -- the enigmatic and the illusional. I try and capture these fragments in my work because I want to find their essence underneath the layers of ordinariness, and show their beauty. By exploring the relationship between the reality of a place or object and the imagined reality, quite plain images are transformed into something “rich and strange”. By creating an illusion, a feeling of heightened awareness in my images they become enhanced and imbued with a dreamlike quality.
Artists I like
Rothko, Peter Doig, Nina Murdoch, Bryce Marden, Edward Hopper, Andy Warhol, Rauschenberg, Mark Surridge plus too many to mention...
