The Zabludowicz Collection was founded in 1995 and currently comprises over 1,000 works by more than 350 contemporary artists from 33 countries. The Collection is one of the first in the UK to focus on emerging artists on a global level and its strength lies in its focus on emerging artists of the late 20th and 21st Centuries. 176 is the first time the Collection has been opened to the public, though countless international museums and institutions have borrowed works for exhibitions large and small; from the UK to Israel, America, and east and west Europe. These loan requests are an acknowledgement of the development of the Collection. 176 aims to extend the Collection’s reach by inviting the public to engage with what we feel are the most dynamic, exciting and progressive artworks by artists living today.
The development of 176 is vital to the long term development of the collection, creating a public profile for the Trusts philanthropic endeavors and allowing the public and art specialists’ to actively engage with the collection. The Trust is interested in making art more attractive and recognisable for an international public by concentrating on focal points within the Collection and wider contemporary artistic practice.
