About my artwork
There is a tension between order and chaos in my work. Sometimes during the process, accidents and their solutions can lead to unintentional compositional elements that create interesting technical challenges. This intermittent randomness has allowed my work to continuously change because the final image is never fully premeditated. As a result, there is a diversity of textures and experimental abstractions, which at times reference some surrealistic characteristics.
I rely heavily on the atmospheric qualities of the subject matter I tend to explore. My cultural background is a consistent influence on my work. I often visit subject such as poverty, childhood, social and environmental issues, and natural or man-made disasters. I use architectural elements to convey structure, expansion, and deterioration; other reference materials including photojournalistic images, film images, and found objects that can sometimes establish their relevance in random and surprising situations.
Artists I like
I usually don't comment on artists work at all. No particular reason. Maybe just laziness. I was particularly struck by your work though. Felt driven to respond. Always found interest in the debris left over from a bomb/earthquake/natural disaster/war. Never knew how to paint it though until I came across your work. Great eye. Lovely textures. An inspirational study of your environment.
