My art is driven by stored moments and by the absurdity of life. Play and seriousness, humor and tender sadness. I’m interested in destinies and stories – tell me about your first love or your darkest secret!
I refer to children’s books and take the liberty to deconstruct, parody and honor the powerful heritage of fairy tales and myths. Within my pieces, human desire and vice meet visual sweetness, closed outlines and elaborated inner rooms.
I am often visited by characters that are whimsical and anthropomorphic. Inspirational imagery from classical mythology, computer games and South American religion opens up for a lifelong fascination with monsters, sea creatures and toys. Consequently I invite you to a landscape with the aesthetics of a children’s room.
I like the unnecessary; cake parties, stubble, earth lumps, glitter, piles of clothes, mermaids, book quotes… Phantoms of my imagination, who want to glut, fight and fuck on paper.
