A late bloomer, I found myself at a crossroads after a series of botched operations resulted in the amputation of my abdominal muscles. The direction I choose was to return to an education in the Arts. Working primarily within the disciplines of Drawing, Painting and Photography, I'm interested in how time and place can influence the creative process, the issues involved with one’s choice of subject matter and the materials an Artist may utilise. I have a tendency to work in a traditional painterly context. Relating to my professional practice, I am focusing on areas of research relevant to the present situation I find myself in. Namely putting in place the means to enable myself to successfully set up and establish for myself, a career in the arts in New York, where my daughter Mia is currently living. By identifying areas within my practice that I can enhance with further knowledge, I hope to strengthen my portfolio of work, be better able to define my artistic practice and to build upon a network of worthwhile contacts.
