Due to a recent injury, I've had plenty of time to think and reflect (something that has become a bit if a luxury in these hustle and bustle times). I caught myself obsessing over trivial things like entertainment news, hollywood gossip, CNN, Michael Jackson's death oh I could go on but it gets too embarrassing. I tried to balance out my obsessions with insightful documentaries about the environment, the planet, food shortages…but cravings for the superficial tidbits resurfaced again and again. How can they not when the carrot is dangling in front of me all the time.
With so much information being thrown at us through so many outlets and so rapidly (tv, radio, internet, smart phones, twitter, youtube, facebook…) we have become an obsessive culture without even realizing it. We are too busy living our day to day lives while talking on mobile phones, texting, emailing, updating facebook status or whatever your obsession might be.
It's getting more difficult to find the time to think for ourselves. After all it is easier when someone else does it for us.
This is a project to create awareness of the obsessed culture we have become. I don't have the answers but at least I can try to get people to look at their own lives and see what they are obsessing about.
