If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Conceptual, Drawing, Film, Installation, Painting, Performance, Photography, Video
passionate about all forms of art.
After a childhood of book-reading and stuffing myself with sweets, long conversations with grown-ups, Pippi Longstocking obsession (that's not really over) and Alice in Wonderland, I went to a visual-art oriented highschool in Ljubljana, Slovenia. During that time, beside painting, drawing and filming, I wrote a lot of poetry and a film scenario. I had my first poetry reading for my sweet 16th, staged in club Gromka in Metelkova (Ljubljana), followed by 6 more.
Besides that I elected the Ljubljana Cinematheque my second home and indulged in the film collections of the library/videotheque of Ljubljana Film School, AGRFT (good old VHS collection ...). After highscool I went to France for a year, to work with the theatre company La Strada situated in Troyes. In 2006 I enrolled in a film major at the University Paris 8. I have completed a bachelor's degree of film and fine arts in 2009. I continued my studies at a Master's degree in (contemporary) Art at the Ecole supérieure d'art de Quimper, where I graduated in june 2011. I am currently writing a master's thesis about my work in the second year of Masters degree (Contemporary art and new media) at the University Paris 8.
About my artwork
I am interested in the way exterior and interior can be shown at the same time, and coincide. The psychological and psychoanalitic approach, the phenomenological. Dreams and unconscious, relationships between people and especially of people with themselfs. Autobiography. Feeling that becomes embodied in a form, searching for the adequate form to express the inner world. The merging and unfolding of inner and outer worlds. The perception of the body. What identity is, what it is created from. How to show the invisible.
Also, the relationships between reality and fiction, "fictionalisation" of reality and of everyday experience.
I am currently focusing on video art, installation and connections between film and contemporary art, however painting is still very present in my work, in the way I construct and view images. I like to paint with video and film framing and story-telling in mind, when I paint and draw. Creating a strong ambiance is very important to me.
I like to explore new forms in art, all the while keeping a constant connection to the art history. My work consists of drawing, painting, video, sound, photography and installation art.
