If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Nikki Jarecki graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2005 and soon after moved to Chicago, Illinois. In 2007 she began creating images with thread that communicate her enthusiasm for natural history, taxidermy, antiquated text, and cabinets of curiosities. Her images combine traditional embroidery stitches and aggressive marks to convey the message of survival that is congruent in both rural and urban environments. Jarecki is earning her Masters of Art Education at DePaul University, is involved with the Stockyard Institute and is currently working on the Nomadic Studio as a curator, educator, and collaborator.
About my artwork
Each piece tells it's own unique story. Cher Ami is about the WWI pigeon that saved the lives of 200 men. Glory, deals with the volatile nature of being through intelligence (corvids or crow family), an altered state of being (morning glory), and the aesthetics of urban living (graffiti).

I can relate to your embroideries as i grew up in the UK countryside, my father is a wild-fowler so we eat what he kills - the paintings of the kill are powerful - nature is what nature is and man will always kill, hopefully to eat and not for the sake of it. I like your paintings/text images, the eggs made me smile, your potraits are excellent. Sioux
