If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
A painter and art-school lecturer
About my artwork
The Über-project "Considering Silesia" seeks to examine issues of mixed heritage (where this may contain conflict), cultural memory and identity and the subject of displacement and migration. These themes are specifically observed in the contemporary context of our evolving relationship with the internet and new media (our digital “way of seeing”) focusing on 'virtual expeditions' to my mothers' homeland (Lower Silesia) and the analogue activity of painting.

Artists I like
Masses - from cave painters onwards
Painting - then most visual arts, good food, my kids, galleries and museums, art education, exhibition previews, chatting to friends in my local pub - usually about art(s), politics, art education and our struggles therein.
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
NOTTINGHAM CONTEMPORARY the new super-gallery in Nottingham, UK
I just picked up these comments now as I'm not getting them in my email notifications.
Yes, this is very pink, I know. I didn't make it pink! Some default color from what I had before or something. And yes, it feels like a very very deep wormhole straddling 2 parallel universes. Oh, darn, just realized.....holding that continuum between 2 dialectic opposites is exactly what most of my work is about - so why not the webpage? Purrrrfect! Thanks for hitting the nail on the head! Cheerios....
So nice to have your support. Yes I suppose graphic work (when it is not done for a poster or commercial client) is indeed its own artform. I will make sure to do a whole series in the style of that piece and yes I will definitely do a showing of just that style.
Yes you havedone an aweful lot of shows in the last 2 years - I can't wait to see one of your pieces in the flesh. I like that you are embracing the ipod and of course ipad and new tech to produce new work - keeps things fresh and contemporary. I'll send you another message in 6 months or so when I have a whole new collection (working slower now due to some arthritis).
Wow - great to hear from you again!! Thanks for the feedback. In retrospect my graphic designs have more depth in them than my paintings and drawings - maybe I will do a show at some point of just the graphics designs. Thanks again and good luck on all of your new projects, best L
Hi Mik, long time no talk. Happy New Year of course... I have posted 5 new pieces on my page. Would be interested to hear your thoughts. Also I have finally (after years of planning) launched a website. You can see it here:
Thank you so much for accepting me :D and your lovely comments.. I haven't attempted digital work yet as I am terrified of computers so admire those who have embraced this media and will enjoy your blog later. I work in printing, wet (film) photography and pen.. I hope to improve my painting skills and will add some scribbles soon. If possible Marty suggested adding you to a private group to show some experimental work. Would you be ok with this? xxx Kat and your work is amazing.. I feel humbled when I look at your skill and techniques.. I hope we can chat about it further x
