If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Conceptual, Digital, Film, Performance, Video
I am...
Audio Visual artist Morris La Mantia AKA Lucid house , worked in virtually
every artistic medium, from drawing, painting, sculpting, to film, animation
and music. In recent years I've focused exclusively in digital time based audio visuals, merging my skills into this melting pot of infinite promise.
I've performed my audio visuals world wide, at various avant grade exhibits as well as mixing my blend of freeform visuals alongside musical luminaries like Freddy Fresh/ Black Strobe/ Felix Da Housecat/ James Zabiela/ John Digweed/ Jeff Mills/ Alexander Kowalski / Plaid and more..
About my artwork
As my work exists and comes from the digital universe, my mission is to infuse it with organic textures and elements, so that hopefully it radiates a tangible warmth that offsets the prescriptive coldness of the mass media.
Early man stared into the primordial fires, looking deeply into the flickering flames and imagining fantastical stories. Hopefully my works can touch on that hypnotic, cerebral state and inspire some creative occurrence."
Centre of the artworld:

I'm exploring the key relationship between man and fire. How meditating on the flickering, glowing warmth could’ve triggered a creative, inventive awakening in early man.

In contrast, our technological evolution has brought us the fire place that radiates a cold blue pulse of mainly narrow prescriptive chatter, stripping away our creative urges and lulling us into a malignant stupor.
Ironically, I mould, coax and transmit my pieces through this cold medium. To try and neutralise this inherent sterility, I infused my motion pieces with organic forms, textures and combustible hyper colour.
There’s nothing profound or prescriptive, the narrative is open ended, the themes random, surreal and subliminal.
My wish is that these video works can touch on that hypnotic, cerebral state derived from staring into flames and hopefully inspire some creative occurrence in the viewer.

Thanx for wanting me as a friend.

I love the style of your artwork. Specially the use of kaleidoscopic effects. Do you use a filter or program to create them, or do you do them the hard way with photoshop alone?

Thank you for commenting back. The ODEA site was done in house in a hurry by ourselves and is presently receiving the professional touch which is required. Exhibitions have been very successful and I travel to Stockholm in the morning for further planning and development. I going to crash out now. I look forward to more exceptional work from LUCID. Can one say 'talk soon' // Mark
