If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
About my artwork
I fear words.
I fear power.
I fear words that are manipulated to create power.
I fear the powerful who control fear through words.
I explore work that involves political control and accountability. I am concerned with the maneuvering of perception and it’s power to manipulate, obfuscate and propagandize. With this work, I seek to exploit mediated information and involve the viewer in accessing alternate points of view. Issues of control, access, and media, address our desensitization toward social and political issues.
As a research based site-specific installation artist I am interested in how a space is created to encourage people to interact with and be absorbed into an environment.
Themes that resurface in the work that I create and the topics I investigate include: environmental concerns, political influences, current affairs, visual mapping and data gathering structures. I am also interested in the concepts of power, control, and influence as they determine and effect constructed spaces.
