If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
...rather pleased to have been a failed art student in the late 50's
...very pleased to have started making sculpture 10 years ago
...delighted to have found Artmazia sculpture park and to exhibit there
About my artwork
picked up where I left off in the 60's making paper maché then moved on to use reclaimed materials, metal and ceramics to make welded sculpture and mosaics...mostly figurative.
Artists I like
Brancusi for cleaning things up
Duchamp for turning things upside down
Magritte for playing with perception
Niki de St Phalle for her materials
Louise Bourgeois for her agenda
They change, but come from thinking, listening, reading, observing and making. Having an aging memory and forgetting things both helps and hinders
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
Musée Magritte in Brussels only one visited this year. I'm something of a hermit and don't know much about the contemporary gallery world, one reason to read artreview.
The ones I would really like to see are in places I will never go..africa, india, haiti.....
Centre of the artworld:
nowhere and everywhere
