If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Film, Installation, Video
a recent NTU Fine Art graduate. Over the past three years I have continued to work as an independent artist as a curator. My first exhibition has back in January 2009 at Het Platfond, Rotterdam. Since then I have gone onto part take in fifteen exhibitions, featuring in ‘Open Call’ at the Frieze art fair, London. Most recent exhibition is my success in the UK Young Artist Exhibition.
Ross has recently just formed the new media arts group ‘The Cutting Room’. Prior to ‘The Cutting Room’ Jennifer curated many different events independently and as part of team, these events took place locally and internationally. The first event being a joint venture, creating a moving image installation at Het Platfond. Then going onto hold a position on the curatorial board at Hover Gallery, creating a series of five different exhibitions. She then independently curated a film event at the Screen Room, Nottingham.
About my artwork
Recently I have started exploring moving image within an installation context. I examine the materials of mass media, not to find a true self, but to explore subjectivization inside the boundaries of modern culture. By manipulating materials that feed into contemporary culture I seek to reveal their function within society. I aim to challenge a belief in a core true self; whether or not one exists. Through my work I hope to make my audience contemplate what they believe, moreover why they choose to believe.
