It's always a pleasure to see so many works on paper. Of course not all works are monochrome, there are many styles and many using colour in there prints. However the more atmospheric works of , for instance, Norman Ackroyd , are the ones that inspire me the most.
I am just going to mention a few that took my interest.
George Shaw: Two single etchings of trees. Very large ones that looked like pencil drawings.
John Piper. Too many on various stalls to mention, all exciting though.
Reg Boulton [brn. 1923]. 'Kilpeck Angel' an engraving, hand coloured, 20x14cm ed. of15. I found this fascinating and found myself looking up the original inspiration for the work which happens to reside in a church in Kilpeck, Herefordshire called: the church of St. Mary & St. David. It is famous for it's exquisite Norman carvings one of which is the subject chosen by the artist which you can find in the centre of the arch, above the South door.
