If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
About my artwork
My practice is sculptural whilst also taking components from other mediums such as installation and film. Transparent materials including glass, latex and resin currently dominate my practice. My interest in the creation of form lies upon the relationship created between viewer and physical being. Transparency became vital whilst exploring the interior/exterior body and now seems to resonate into broader themes such as medicine and internal forms. I hope to achieve a clinical aesthetic whilst maintaining a feel of the organic.
Concerns relative to advancing medicine and biology are currently leading my research. My work depicts a modern medical perspective of the body. I am intrigued by the theory that the artificial will control evolution as oppose to organic biology. The work indicates the nature of contemporary medical science relative to the natural form.
My recent work utilises the clinical aesthetic and organic shape achievable through blown glass, along with stitch, indicating surgical manipulation.
