Hello again Heather Lee,
I'm still reading your great sentements such words of wisdom. The first time i am lost for words. But you have given me some motivation. The large colourful paintings based on Statue of Liverbirdity ( the Liverbird is a symbol of Liverpooll associated with the sea. Birdty is play on words (Statue of Lberty). The Funky Chicken character originates from my alta ego and one of the characters from my Animal Utopia story and performances.I am a Latim and disco dancer, i first went to the Soul/Funk clubs in Liverpool in the 1970's and dressed in psycadelic clothes. My dancing evolved from watching other great dancers. There was the Funky Chicken and Funky Penguin, Wicky Wacky, The Hustle, Bus Stop. Pop Corn and many more dancers. I developed the Funkadelic Chicken character and other Utopian characters in performancers in Liverpool, Berlin. Norway and Denmark. Also in Phoenix Arizona in 1981 at the Soild Gold Club then. ( visiting my family) Later with Transvoyeur art group New York and Liverpool, the Liverpool artists were planning to go exhibit/perfrom in New York with the artist there.. But the funding didntt materialise. But the New York artists exhibited in the Liverpool Biennial 2006. The Painting Billy ( my deseased brother)
with Angels. Depicts Billy's spirit with angels carrying a fragment of his life to the other world. ( i had a dream or nightmare about this painting) After my brother passed away i couldn't remember his childhood therefore i painting this painting to relive his past. After discovering my brother after he passed i had the dreams and interpreted them into the artwork. I always have had and have dreams about my future artwork. The dreams from childhood have come true. The Painting of Billy With Angels has been stolen from an art centre i left it at. The other paintings you like i still have. My flat is lkie a grotto of colour. I have to wear sunshades when i go to sleep ( joking) It is like a gallery. Sometime I exhibit but there isn't much scope or emphasis on art in Liverpool. Mainly people here are football mad. I also paint on clothes, shoes, bags everything in fact transform the artefacts with colour. I don't really commercialise my art or sell it anywhere. Only tom buy paint and materiials and for charitable purposes. May i give you some adivce if you sell your art. To experiement with different materials and media to break with conventions and traditions. I think you already do this in your artwork. To study other artists work to se what is trendy and is selling. To have your art on postcards, leaflets, T-shirts have an arty party with friends wearing your T-shirt designs. Advertise your art on and in the local media. If you have money employ someone to wear a sandwhich board with your artwork and info on exhibitions on it. Create a data base for invites to your exhibitions.
Pllace leaflets in potencial places that may buy your artwork. Contact businesses that may promote/fund your artwork through their networks. For their advertisemts on your website. If appropraite.. Contact hotels. clubs, cafes, bars, with your leaflets advertising your art. Produce agood business plan with a unique selling point.
Of course the ideas are if you need to sell your art works. Lookforwards to conversing again. Best of Life. Regards George
I really appreciate your kind words. I am pychic at times and can feel things coming. I have a feeling that yourself has this gift. Everyone has really regards to places, people and communication like we have been here before. But artists i feel have a bit more intuition/insight.
A friend once said to me that my ink drawings on architecture is similar to a 19th century artists work. That some of my figurative colour work has a Pre-raphealite quality with a Naive style.
I try to show a more positive light in my art with all the doom and gloom of the world today.
We need artists like us to "palette the way" ( pave the way). My Animal Utopia work from a story i wrote represents a more peaceful, harmonious, loving, caring world. There is no money greed exploitation everything is totally shared. No one starves through lack of food or water. No one gets ill. The animal characaters are wacky eccentric and humourus. Inventive, innovative they create many inventions to ease the burden of life not for profit. The vehicles don't pollute or go fast no need of speed they live in a Utopia. everthing is made of soft materials no one gets injured. No violence, no weopons no wars. They have more respect love concern for eachothers destiny and existence. Of course the story is fantasy and may never happen in the human world unless we start again. I will end for or i will have texed the whole story not quite it is nearly 40000 words. You can see my Animal Utopia performances on the Youtube under Transvoyeur Artists or George Lund animal Utopia.
Happy times regards George
Pleased to meet you my name is (Funky Chicken) George Lund colourist artist/performance artist from Liverpool UK. I like your Bealtesesque quote all you need is love and music but you forgot art as well. IIt is good to share the experience of art with dialogue to one and all.
Hope you don't mind my comments. on your artwork i can see a bit of Duffy, Matisse or even Chagall. The colours are vivid, expressive and intense. The words and images give more of a dimension and great combination. As a colourist myself would be good to have your words on my artwork. Web: www.lundart.co.uk
Peace, success, happiness and health. Take care regards to all George
