About my artwork
The imagery in my work is carefully selected from a multitude of influences that are often chosen for their prophetic and apocalyptic undertones. These grand themes are then reconfigured to form petits recits or localised narratives. Meanings are reassigned in an attempt to comprehend the past and foresee the future.
The colour, form and physicality of the work seek to further augment the ideological discrepancies inherent in the found subject matter. The paintings emerge from dark, geometric backgrounds where painterly abstractions jostle with 3D forms to generate awkward compositions that aspire to enlighten yet offer little resolution.
Artists I like
Fabian Marcaccio, James Turrell, Brian Eno, James Whitney, Bryan Wynter, Henri Michaux.
I stumbled across the Closely Held Secrets exhibition when I was in Nottingham the back end of last year and thought your pieces were amazing. They definitely inspired my collograph plates I made recently in Printmaking.
