I am...
an indivisual artist.
About my artwork
Eri Skyrgianni visually relates her work to Nature, Water, The Fluid Mechanics, Chaos, the Fractalistic Structure of the Universe, Buddhism, Zen, Tao, and the interconnection of all things and beings, under the philosophy and practices of Deep Ecology.
All fields of her artistic practice, abstract and representative, explore the relations and the visual results produced by the above stated interconnection.
This is visualised in some works linearly and in others, painterly.
Her multicoloured abstract lines move freely and often become heraldic to represent this interconnection. When form becomes painterly, close to the styles of Post-painterly Abstraction and Hard Edge, it belongs to the contemporary Superflat Pop Surrealism, but with a glossy low-relief texture, produced from the masses of the material diffused into the drawing receptors with high saturated colors. As in Sculpture, the work identifies with the substance used. The more or less curved shapes as well as the dramatic tonic relations that absolutely lack shading bring back the issue of the relations of depth in a strictly two-dimensional field.
Apart from Painting, Drawing, and Photography (see also myspace.com/eri_sky), she creates Video Art (see www.vimeo.com/erisky and www.youtube.com/eriwerk),
Super 8 movies and Experimental Music (aka univoice) (see myspace.com/univoice)
One of her paintings received commendation at the 4th Biennale of the Schools of Fine Arts of Greece and another of her paintings belongs to the Collection of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, in Thessaloniki, Greece.

AVAF, Takashi Murakami, Alexis Akrithakis, Yayoi Kusama, Aya Takano, Laurie Anderson, Katharina Grosse, Julie Mehretu, Matthew Ritchie, Daniel Zeller, Chris Ofili, Paul Noble, Neo Rauch, Pat Andrea, Daniel Richter, Gerhard Richter, Linda Benglis, Tony Crag, Juan Muñoz, Niki de Saint Phalle, Hans Bellmer, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Francis Picabia, Jean Dubuffet, Marcel Duchamp.
What exhibitions are good at the moment?

Inspired by the wider concept and aesthetics of Kawaii, 13 Greek and 13 Japanese artists present their new work at CAMP. Clear and vivid colours, houmor, naivety and self-sarcasm converse with the ingenuity of visual arts and produce a range of paintings, drawings, sculpture and video. This exhibition attempts to renegotiate the notion of “cuteness” and at the same time react to its crisis-striken and grave surroundings.

Ha ha !!! Je te retrouve dans un autre espace ! Comment va la vie d'artiste ? Est-ce aussi marécageux qu'au Québec ?

KAWAII exhibition

Kawaii – かわいい

Kawaii かわいい as the cute, small, round and irresistibly adorable is a concept that originates from Japan and thrives in the temperate environment of global consumerism.

During the 70’s and 80’s, Kawaii significantly contributed in the development of Japanese sub-culture, as expressed particularly in the video-game industry, Manga comics and Anime films.…
