If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
About my artwork
I recently came across the art of Enrique. This is where primitivism meets expressionism. Excitement, impulsiveness and childishness mixed together. Enrique Servin is a Mexican contemporary artist. He started painting at the age of twelve. He studied architecture and after that he continued his studies in the film school of Guadalajara Mexico but painting is still his great love. He believes that studies and techniques are important for an artist, on the other hand is the need for creativity that makes someone an artist. “Art is far beyond all reason”.
His art is not influenced by a specific movement or artist. Not even his background is easily recognizable in his work but in some way it’s there. “My background does not describe my work, but is part of every line I draw”.
For Servin, experiment is part of the creative process. He prefers experimenting and embodying new elements in his work all the time. He perceives creativity as a way of expression and communication, as an endless gift. “Creativity never stops, it’s like a machine”.
