About my artwork
My work is rooted in cultural, reflexive concerns, and as much as I explore myth-reality discrepancies, I am also exploring tensions between time, perspective and sound. I am keen to subvert, deconstruct or altogether dispense with traditional forms of visual narrative, reconsidering how messages are created, disseminated and perceived. Thematically, my visual work is concerned with issues such as consumerism, nationalism and discrimination, all part of a complex voyeuristic network.
Artists I like
Some of the writings of Laura Mulvey, the tragedies of Federico García Lorca, the visual designs of Tomoo Shimogawara and Salvador Dali, some of the ‘fly on the wall’ works of Chris Marker, visuals of Andrei Tarkovsky, Teshigahara Hiroshi and Nam June Paik….to name a few.
Institutional racism, socio-economic analysis, media, social control, consumerism and belief systems
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
Too many to mention.
Centre of the artworld:
New York, London, Beijing, online, nowhere and everywhere
