Conceptual, Performance, Photography, Printmaking
I am...
I am feeling a little better about calling myself an artist these days.
Artists I like
Gottfried Helnwein made a huge impact on me, Jan Saudek the photographer, also Ivan Pinkava and Joel-Peter Witkin. I find Paul Mcarthy interesting and Gunter Brus. I think that Bob Dylan, Odd Nerdrum, Picasso, Werner Herzog and Francis Bacon all and many more of the same path have awarded me the richness of my poor life.

Yes Clay we seem to be coming from a similar space- we'd like to add you and your work to the Idiosynchronism website at www.niccosta.com. Just send us an email through the site and we'll take it from there. Do you know Brian Charnley's work?

Hi Clay - thanks for your comments. I got you via De La Guerra's page - I really like your pieces. There's 'other-timeness' in some, and altered dimensions in others, to my eye. V atmospheric; just back from a 12-hour teaching day, so too wooly to be v profound @ the minute!
In the 'Pore' pieces, I'm really just after expression, and a pared-down kind of detail, if that makes sense; I like complex layers, because people are complex and not everything's on the surface, so I hope that if people are engaged enough to look @ the work deeper, they'll see more than originally obvious.
Good to be in touch, but now off for kip . . . zzz
