an Art History graduate with an MA in Visual Culture. I have also completed an Art Criticism course at Central St Martin's and am wanting to get into freelance writing...anyone know an easy way to get into this by any chance! By day I work at the British Museum and by night I complain that I am not a successful...anything! This may be because I am an essentially lazy individual but I think it's more likely that I have yet to be discovered!
About my artwork
hmm...limited! I enjoy figure drawing and am currently trying to set up a drop-in life drawing class in South London. I have had a few knock backs recently but I will persevere!
Artists I like
Steve McQueen, Ron Mueck, Phil Collins, Marc Quinn, Sarah Morris, Caravaggio, Delacroix, Gericault, Turner, Ingres, Albert Edelfelt, the Pre-Raphaelites, Courbet, Manet....I'm a fan of the 19th Century!
My interests include experimental film, for which I have completed a course in my spare time, as well as figure drawing, oil painting, writing. I also enjoy film, particularly Mexican cinema and the horror genre.
What exhibitions are good at the moment?
'Walking In My Mind' at the Hayward, 'When You're a Boy' and 'On Reading' at the Photographers Gallery, and the Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery is impressive....and obviously 'Book of the Dead' at the British Museum!
