I’m creative Italian artist who works with different mediums (supports and experimental materials), exploring ancient techniques to create new and innovative works, the result of the conjunction between past and present. My iconographic research draws from the Roman Greek sculptural and pictorial archaeological repertoire to Renaissance art. In the past, the artists during their work have had second thoughts and today we wonder why this happened when the work of painters is alalized with the radiographs. Often behind the image that we see is another hidden with x-rays you can see intersections of faces, bodies, objects represented. The duality in my work is intended as a personality of the artist often in contrast with his purposes, changes them and sometimes upsets them.

Carmela Lorusso is a gestual artist who uses the sign as an expressive force and rewrites the technique of setting up using new media. His iconographic research ranges from ancient Greek sculpture to chromatic shades of Renaissance painting.
In the work of the artist there are continuous references to the remote or near past.
Such a combination of languages is implemented referring to both classical and historical myths and memories, as well as to other aspects of the twentieth century, such as the fragment, the union between space-time given by the simultaneity of plans and points of view, and gestuality of the sign -design as in the work entitled "Hipnos god". In this context, the artist describes the figure of the "God of sleep" using a pictorial language that could be defined as maximum visual union through the bond of the different views of the subject portrayed from the ancient world. This is made possible through the transparency of the natural fiber supports, which can only be admired with natural or artificial transmitted light.
The means used in the works of the artist is the expressive force of the gesture sign, through pictorial tensions the images are linked to the past, but linked to the present through the simultaneity of the different points of view of the whole image with the front view , Lateral, three-quarter, rear etc.
The artist proposes images that point to a figurative reality, but his subjects are created by a gestural gesture that impinges, that is, a sign-drawing; This design is capable of combining a background figure in the same as in the work "Head of an Athlete" as a testimony of a past time, memory of ancient Olympic games, conceptual-stylistic conjugation between past and present that is represented through the experimentation of Ancient technique of the reconstructed medium with mediums belonging to modernity, as well as subjects who interact with iconographies that affect modern times.
