Reality is constantly questioned throughout Camilla’s work. Why is life the way we see it? Why does society accept what it is told? Humanity tries to escape reality rather than question it. Camilla encourages her audience to challenge and change reality so that there is no need to escape it. If a person lives in a reality that they have made there is no need be confused and muted by drugs, work or trends. Instead one is free to be fulfilled in day-to-day existence.
Camilla is fascinated by the sun, the eternal and all powerful provider. She plays with colour and shape so that the subjects in her work seem to move and float above a platform, or around an object.
Often working with items unwanted by society, Camilla wonders, why do people seek to change their material lives? Is it a means by which to escape or, in fact, a more sincere shift of their reality? Camilla’s practice is to constantly question her reality and the standards by which she lives. Each piece is a reflection of this.
