The making of art in the post-contemporary – redefinition of roles/ethics

A number of recent trends in contemporary art have taken as their focus the relationship of the artist to the institutions of the culture industry. Somewhere in the midst of these new realities Bimal Projects is launched. As an activist, ironic and critical investigation of the new intricate web of cultural possibilities where an artist becomes curator, producer, mediator and agent provocateur. Blurring these distinctions becomes a radical gesture in a kind of realignment of what it means to be an artist in the institutional and community sense.
Understanding the cultural industry as something beyond the boundaries of the art world.

The logo depicts the name “Bimal” in Bengali characters. “Bimal” is an Indian name, it means clean, unblemished.

I really like the work you are showing and was wondering if you were accepting applications? I have alot of work that I would be willing to part with. I have never show out side of the U.S and would like a chance. Your gallery looks great. Take a look at my work and let me know what you think.
peace, nate

That's always a very good way of making and exposing art. Here there's a bunch of artist-run galleries with great succes, in fact I've just submitted an aplication to become part of one of them. It looks like this way there's more freedom in a sence to be "yourself" as an artist, when it comes to the content and character of what you want to show. Are you the curator of your group? or does it get curated by an artists cometee?
