If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
About my artwork
I love to paint 'on the edge of control' - not in terms of my mental state, but in the way that I like to paint intuitively at speed on a large scale. Visually I am inspired by the juxtaposition of contrasting visual languages: pushing the limits of what paint can do.
Artists I like
Bernard Frize, Alexis Harding, Fiona Rae, Katrin Fridriks, Antony Micallef, Pia Fries.
Hi Becky, i use only oil paint and sometimes feltip pen, but mostly Micheal Harding oil paints. the effects you get are really nice, i hate acrylic use to use years ago but would never really use it now..
I dont like working to deadlines either! especially when I find the whole finishing process rather stressful. I'll get some pictures posted as soon as theyre finished, I always find taking photographs of paintings extremely difficult, especially to achieve the correct colours and avoid any glares etc.
I havent seen any new work lately that has caught my eye, I really need to find time to visit some galleries, Its been a long time since ive seen some artwork in the flesh that has given me a real craving to paint!
Hi Becky yeah i am from Gateshead though my studio is in the heart of Newcastle. I do much prefer Abstract.....What paint do you use...Oil? I really like your work, if had the money i would deffo have one on my wall.x
My paintings are going well, Im just at the dreaded finishing stage at the minute, which I always find is the most hardest part! I hope youre work is going well too, Ive got a solo show coming at the end of october too, Ill have to post some pictures of my new paintings, when I eventually finish them!
Thanks for the comment, Im glad you enjoy looking at my work! I really like your work too, esepcially the mark making. Life is very tough after graduating! it can sometimes feel very frustrating at times, when you put alot of effort and work into something, but get very little back. But I seem to be making steady progress, you just need to be extremely committed and have alot of belief in yourself and most importantly your work!
