Dear Barbara, Your artist's talk at The Collection was very thought provoking, and it's inspiring that you explore this controversial aspect of your experience of motherhood in such a powerful way. As an illustrator, we sometimes use found objects in a Kurt Schwitters way, but your work has a particular poignancy and beauty. I'm not sure if I have time to get to Nottingham to see your work there - will definitely try :-)
Well, the London Art Fair was "interesting" too - though I thought the balance was more commercial and "pop" than usual (I've been to a few) - I prefer it when there's a broader mix.
All the same, there was some good stuff, both contemporary and some "modern classics" (I think they're called these days) - plenty of Picasso's, Matisse and the old British avantgarde from years gone by - but still often fascinating and somehow relevant.
I've posted a blog with photos on the fair that you can look at here.
Blimey Barbara - I've just seen it in The Guardian - you never mentioned having this big show on in Birmingham! How's it been? Has it gone well? "The Art of Birmingham 1940 - 2000" Crikey! Well done!
