Contemporary collage

I just thought that i would set up a group based on the medium of collage. This is a base where ideas and debates regarding contemporary collage can be aired.

I am...
Je pense, donc je suis.
I am an Earthling. I am busy being and laughing like a drain at everything, (including my own trials and tribulations). Sometimes I guffaw at other peoples interpretations of my life & work, while meeting my existential nightmares head-on with a big fat belly laugh. No matter where I am in the world I will only occupy the same volume of space. I am always hoping for Peace on Earth, but regularly find myself being disappointed.
About my artwork
Exploring the realms of creative ineptitude from the anal-retentive to the cack-handed and in the process trying to take bad art to new lows. Looking for comedy in tragedy and the tragic in the comedic. Colliding Signs and Signifiers in a metaphorical accelerator in the hope of discovering new meanings in my work and ideas, often these works are produced in series or narrative form, (I love a good story). I take nothing and everything seriously. I also like to explore, Naqö̀yqatsi - Life as War, exploring the Civilized Violence that we see all around.
Life is a dichotomy. Humanity is a conundrum.

Interests
Some interests:
Space hoppers as a form of everyday transport. Laughing at the wrong moments in movies when at the cinema. Pointing and laughing at politicians in public, (then walking away still laughing). Making up happy endings to Kafka's unfinished works. Making all sorts of artistic and subversive interventions in my work or in public. Embracing serendipity and happenstance whenever these things present themselves. I enjoy new experiences and trying out new things. My main position is sitting, but sometimes I like to stand and I am also interested in working (painting, drawing and photography) whilst on a bouncy castle or trampette, I prefer a bouncy castle as it is a kind of grand statement in itself. I like dancing in crowded public places as if I am alone with no one watching. I also enjoy pulling silly faces in crowded places and watching peoples reactions (I also like watching Gurning Competitions). I enjoy music and live events but I also enjoy solitude and silence (silence being the canvas that music is painted upon). I am interested in art, music, films and books. I am also interested in watching and feeding the wild visitors in my garden (this brings great satisfaction and enjoyment). I also like listening to the wind and the rain or a good storm.
I also like a good joke, "Knock, Knock..."

Brexit will spell the end of British Art

Full article by Bob and Roberta Smith here:-

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/may/12/brexit-british-art-artists-museums-galleries

"Post-Brexit, we face a dissolution of our museums and galleries comparable in its devastation to that visited on England in the 1530s, as philistine politicians slash budgets. Art schools and the arts in schools will be further diminished in a wave of manufactured disdain for so-called elitists. The only people in the arts set to benefit from Brexit are the auction houses, which are poised to sell off publicly owned collections to the world’s super-rich at cut prices. Local authorities facing huge bills for social care are looking to their assets to fill funding gaps. Already, Croydon council has sold its holdings of ancient Chinese ceramics, Northampton museums sold an Egyptian sculpture of Sekhemka and Walsall council threatened to close its New Art Gallery. Our weak pound only makes our treasures more affordable to oligarchs. . ." - Bob and Roberta Smith.
