If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Drawing, Installation, Painting, Photography, Sculpture
I am...
I was born 1955 in the town of Bakkum/Castricum, the Netherlands and started expressing myself in sculpting and drawings at the age of 12.
After secondary school I followed the School of Horticulture to become à Landscape architect.
My early inspiration by nature is one of the main influences for my today's research of new harmonies, and Ikebana has been an inspiration for my today's simple lines drawings.
I moved to France in 1985 where I realised numerous sculptures, assemblies, installations, drawings and wall paintings and photographies as well.
I made/make part of artists groups in Paris, New-York and Berlin and rallie/d for a better integration of Artists and Art in today's society through participation in various artists projects.
From 1997 to October 2008 I lived in the French region of Poitou-Charentes where a large variety of stones determined my preference to work in lime stone and alabaster. The works talk about tactility and can be carved in a multiple - position, with 360º views.
I also worked with several schools. In October 2008 I moved to Germany - Schleswig-Holstein and than on by the end of 2010 to the Netherlands - Amsterdam.
My drawings (STEX) are presented in separate or combined exhibitions with my sculptures.
I often showed my works in unexpected places to bring my work closer to the people. I only started to work with galleries and Art dealers by 2008.
Many of my works entered in private collections worldwide.
About my artwork
Alex is an active philosopher and considers his Artwork as his "Reflexive base".
The recent aspect of his stone sculptures talk about tactility and multiple - positions with 360º views. Also his drawings are presented in separate or combined exhibitions with his sculptures.

Attempt to distinguish art of fashion

A Stalenberg, how unfashionable or old fashioned, outdated some perhaps would find is interesting because he is explicitness, its "obscenity" just the anti-obscene character of previous artistic expressions challenges, while still the promise of art preserved. This might be an interesting project for contemporary art,…

Expositie Alex Stalenberg, beeldend kunstenaar

(New York)…

Where you are

Where you are ....

If there is a heaven

Where we can do it all over again

Where we will love

our passions

we'll hug

Love

Caress

Excite

Sweath

and stay in cling

for eternity
