This is an abstract of the Dorset Gold Coast (in West Dorset). This spectacular area is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and takes its name from Golden Cap - the highest coastal point on the Dorset coastline.
The piece plays with time and scale and suggests that this might be perhaps a Jurassic view of the area at-large, or perhaps instead just a tiny area of golden sand along the majestic coastline. The top left hand corner has been deliberately painted to suggest a mussel shell.
Made using acrylic paint - applied using both ends of the brush - and tarnished coloured metal leaf.
