Found objects, Readymades, Accidental Billboard Collages and other found items and images, appropriated and designated as Art/Public Art by myself. These are found or happened upon in my surrounding environment. This is a way of embracing, chance, serendipity & happenstance, searching for not so much just a form of beauty in the throwaway, but looking for meaning in the accidental & unintentional. What is art? Anything is quite possibly art when contextualised within the brackets of 'Art', and thus, Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, even if the beauty is in fact one which questions our 'likes' and dislikes or presents us with moral and political questions about our own behaviour and attitudes.
These photographs of 'Found Collages', the decaying billboard posters, rubbish and piles of detritus all around us I see as a metaphor for the damage done to the environment by consumerism, greed and the waste it produces. We live in a throw-away society, where the land, air and oceans are now teeming with rubbish and pollution. We have but one planet, if it is to survive we need a different paradigm from the consumerist one we are living by. Every time I see a billboard poster, I don't see the products, the "something to be desired", I see the potential greed, the subsequent waste that is effectively being advertised and the inevitable pollution produced that is destroying our only place to live.
