I don't like people being lynched by the crowd.
exactly. We can't say it's not art simply because we disapprove of it.
Yeh we life in a world .We got eyes .
And when i see a lot of art-works ? They are just that world ?
Photo's from our time , from around the earth .Reflections with photo-shoopping or a better program .Put a filter on it or made a big blow up from it .
Than there is so much work that has a high imitation grade .
Maybe art wanna give us more than only the reallity from what we see .
Artist life for it ,with joy & pain .
The searching in materie to let thinking , feeling out , falling away .
So yes it is a issue when we ask what is for sure no art ?
i think it was lee bul's work. as far as i know, the goldfish was already dead.
moreover, the lifespan of goldfish is short. her intention was totally different from his.
she tried to show us the process of decomposition...
You're right, I think, on this one Mike. And the possibility that the 'artist' was aiming for just this effect had also crossed my mind. If so then i'm sure he will be touched by our signing of the petition against him!
So aaaahhhhhhh it only a way of thinking .A good idea .There is a lot what is not art . And if we feed that ; why not a dog from street ? Give the dog fast food .Put some white paper where he let his shit fall . Collect them all .Make a sculpture from it .Paint the dog blue . next day purple , green ,orange or yellow .And so on .
When you collect his hair you got all different kind of colours .You can spin your own socks . After that all make a constuction :
A doghouse from a table and put the chairs on the top as roof .
When you not feel fine about the dog-art-project . You can get into the doghouse and make a wolf-sound .And put it on youtube .
I have to say I'm inclined to agree. I don't approve of it. But can I say that an immoral or cruel act is not art? I'm not so sure that I can, but I know I would not wish it to be admired as art.
Thanks Marina.
why do I have a memory of goldfish being eletrocuted as art in a tank at the ICA and the late great Spike Milligan smashed it with a hammer? Or did I dream it?
I agree Ian but we can say that it is bad art and also dog murder - is there such a word as caninicide?
Can we also say that as such it is unacceptable to all and should be stopped?
I'd welcome your thoughts.
Ah 48073 - so hence the choice of poplar! Silly me. I think you playing devils advocate has helped change the tide of this debate from a wallowing tsunami of self righteous indignation into a more considered discussion of the actualities and implications of the situation. I understand your choice of the poplar as a hanging tree but I hope your artist gets a sore arse. I'm still with the dog - and Art.
sorry Mike, if my sarcasm was misinterpreted, Stalin was a monster, he killed more of
his own citizens than several wars managed to, not exactly your paternal ruler, he was
a paranoid bloodthirsty tyrant, but maybe his mom liked him........
