PRESS RELEASE

EVI PHOTOPOULOS THE GREEK VISUAL CONTEMPORARY ARTIST

PRESENTS HER "ART BOOK -EVENING SYMPHONY& ART VIDEO" AT

THE: "AVIFF" CANNES FESTIVAL 2012

"AVIFF 2012-19 till 24 MAY-Sug ART Gallery-le jardin secret-2 rue des Freres -Le Suquet - Cannes-14.30-23.00
http://www.artshow-cannes.com/plan-en.html

"Who said that dreamlands do not represent real destinations? On the contrary. Each drop of the red , blue and gold colours, can make anyone travel to places of untold beauty. Not anyone , but the one who chooses to be tied to the mast, in order to hear the divine, harmony to taste the seducing saltiness,to see with the eyes of his soul. Through the flowing outlines of Evi Photopoulos, one may discover the

possibilities to approach another reality, half inside and half outside of what is called everyday life, which functions like a reminder of the dream we eventually secured with nails on an,indifferent background, but which encloses our innocent child images and our decisions when we were young.Through her work Evi, proposes us to hear again these forgotten voices.

Let's do it.." IRINI GAVRILAKI ARCHAELOGIST HEAD OF MUSEUMS,EXHIBITIONS&EDUCATIONALS PROGRAMS 25th EPHORATE OF PREHISTORIC AND CLASSICAL ANTIQUITIES

EVI'S Art describes Man's journey on Earth through his Life is built on "Dream Colours", the journey of the everyday, strong Man who is aware of his flaws and weaknesses, who confronts his fears, who has goals and visions and who finally break his chains, striving to realize his Dreams.
"Dream Colours" are a wish and at the same time a Prayer for the uniqueness of Life.

They define the colourful mosaic of Ideals and aim for the ideal shape of the "Beautiful and Sublime", they follow the binary flights of Freedom and finally try to reveal the unique and magnificent quintessence of Immortality through the fragile Human Faith for Tomorrow.

PRESS RELEASE

"EROS has the sense of an enigma not because of its subconscious but because of its unresolved nature. Whoever "touches" this enigma enchants us and thus a gradual surrender of ourselves starts, allowing the revelation of the enigma around Eros". PLATO

"In Cosmogony, Eros was born first, even from Chaos.

Then ,Moirai were born and then gods.

Gods may dominate man, but are unable to overcome man's fate. Moirai have to obey Eros since he is the first child born.

Luckily for me, Moirai made a promise that I should get involved in something that Eros made me love. Until now, I have been blessed with doing whatever I wanted;

I am in love with my occupation. I do whatever pleases me, whatever gives me the joy of life. I paint.

I walk and feel the breeze..."

The artist wonders what the distance between madness and love is.

And if soul has its own settings, which is its second planet?

EVI PHOTOPOULOS, deeply influenced by Hesiod's Theogony in relation to love, through her works notes a substantial difference between the Greek and the Shakespearean tragedies.

Greek tragedies present Moira as the protagonist, with whom human intentions collide, while Shakespearean tragedies' protagonist is Madness that obscures the mind of Lear, Hamlet, Macbeth and Othello.

It is a Madness in various forms, with or without a method in its deliria, but always a madness that when it is not found on the paths of power, goes around the most private paths, although not less heartbreaking ones, of the madness of love.

PRESS RELEASE

THE GREEK CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ARTIST

EVI   PHOTOPOULOS

AS  AN AWARDED BIENNALE ARTIST

WILL  EXHIBIT HER ARTWORKS

AMONG  40  INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS AT:

"CHIANCIANO  BIENNALE IN LONDON"

GAGLIARDI   GALLERY  27th of APRIL 17.00pm

from 27th APRIL till 5th MAY,2012

ORGANISED BY THE CHIANCIANO ART MUSEUM, ITALY

The selection of EVI PHOTOPOULOS'S works was guided by the nature of

instantaneous depiction characterizing the works of the collection,

paintings. Such instantaneous depiction is

destined to last forever, not solely because it aims to capture the

eternal in the ephemeral but also because its task is to crystallize in

memory and the gaze of the artist. Thus most of the works are

representational or anthropomorphic; they depict faces  in

which human presence is implied. It is this human presence resisting

time or compromising with it, through art that is presented in this

collection.

EVI PHOTOPOULOS

THE GREEK CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ARTIST

SOUTHERN NEVADA

Museum of Fine Arts

"Bloom  Land"

International Contemporary Masters Vol V

Exhibition 2nd March– 2ndJune 2012

«The storm of  fire in 2007, one of the greatest disasters in Greece to this date, is turned by the hands of Evi Photopoulos into an active field of a unique spiritual and aesthetic experience». Katerina Voreadou,
Natural History Museum of Crete.

«The artist, Mrs. Photopoulos  through her paintings once again spreads the message of hope and faith that we can all come to love nature again».Giannis Drositis, Heraklion Municipal Art Gallery

Sensitive to the environmental  issues which greatly affect our small neighborhoods as well as the whole of Greece and ultimately the entire planet ,assist the cry of protest through art of Evi Photopoulos for the
indifference, overexploitation, "rape" and destruction of our natural environment.

On Saturday, March 10th , the first month of  the spring, when we all admire the splendor of  nature, this cry of despair from the artist echoes even more tragic to our complacent ears.
Evi Photopoulos' oil paintings included in the series, "Bloom Land," constitute a continuation of the traditions of Byzantine Art. The dark tones and deep dramatic colours, which lead associatively to the ritual atmosphere of the Byzantine churches, become a counterpoint to the cold breath of polished aluminum
and  remind one of the explosive religious iconography of the Divine Judgment and the Second Coming.

At the same time, her paintings are modern and comprehensible, overflowing with the passion of the creator who is shaken and overwhelmed by the actions of Man against Man and against the Environment accommodating him.

Summarizing  her views, the artist states: "Through my series of works, "The Bloom Land" I wish to inform all fellow-human beings to the point where each and every one of us acquires a sensitive environmental awareness and power of freedom to demand the future of the next generation on Earth".

Evi Photopoulos studied initially in the Art Workshop of great Greek carver Konstantinos Grammatopoulos (1990-1994).
She then travelled to Milan where she was specialized in clothing design (1995-1999), in order to experiment also with other printing and art creation materials.
Her experience was enriched by her apprenticeship in the Art Workshop of N. Christoforakis in Athens (2000-2003) she continued in the Byzantine Workshop of N. Giannakakis (2004-2007), and then afterwards concluded her studies at London Art College & Tate Courses (2007-2009) thus completing in total a seventeen-year study in the field.

Her work has been exhibited at the: MUNICIPAL ART GALLERY OF (LOS ANGELES & HERAKLION OF CRETE), HLSI HIGHGATE GALLERY - LONDON, INFINITY GALLERY - NEW YORK, ARTWORK GALLERY -DENVER,FACTORY OF ART-OLIVE PRESS -CHANIA, ART FORUM -BERLIN,(PREBIENNALE & PROJECT JUNE) in “STUDIO CARAPOSTOL” –VENICE &CHIANCIANO BIENNALE- MUSEUM OF MODERN ART,GUANLAN BASE PRINT-BIENNALE CHINA,MERIDA MUSEO MEXICO-EFFETO BIENNALE.
