Founded in 2009 by Taina Azeredo and Thereza Farkas, Casa Tomada is an independent space for practice, research and reflections of artistic nature. The project was based from a desire to build a space that was a point of convergence of several areas of the arts, discussing hybridity of language in contemporary artistic processes.
Concerned with the entire production process, instead of focusing exclusively on the final art, Casa Tomada has a proposal to encourage discussion of young contemporary art, not only stimulating the development of artistic and theoretical motivated by shared experience, but acting as a catalyst of experiences in a connection between artists, researches, and other independent artistic initiatives.
Casa Tomada hosts the following artistic projects:
Open Studio: Semester program for young artists and researchers (art criticism, curatorship and art history focus). The program proposes interchange among artists and art thinkers, stimulating one another in their own art production. (Read more about this project below)
