Chakour is a visual artist whose work deftly combines her experiences in the realm of music, activism and professional boxing. In addition to making politically charged portraits of historic icons, she creates kinetic drawings that function as culturally aware streams of consciousness. She has recently been acting Director and consultant for 'The Stop the Violence Movement' revitalized by Hip Hop activist/philosopher, KRS-ONE and is an Athlete ambassador with 'Right To Play,' a global organization of that uses sport for development and peace. She recently spoke at the United Nations Youth Assembly on their behalf. Chakour is represented by Agora Fine Art Gallery in Chelsea, New York City and is planning a series of unconventional exhibitions and art events in the months to come.
Conceptual artist Robin Kahn is a New York based artist whose work examines issues surrounding gender conditioning as it is reinforced in various strains of popular culture. Her work has been exhibited since 1989 throughout the US and abroad and is currently in the collections of MOMA, The Whitney Museum and The Smithsonian Institute. In addition to producing fine art for exhibitions, she curates radical exhibitions, creates artists books and organizes public art projects that explore strategies for breaking down the traditional parameters of art making, art viewing, art owning and information sharing. Her exhibitions, art anthologies and artist books have been reviewed in ArtForum, ID, The New York Times, The Print Collector's Newsletter, Elle, Vogue and Vanity Fair among others.
Chakour and Kahn are both dedicated to creating original projects that open up new venues of communication between artists and their audience.
