A solo exhibition by steve hines of 6 small, but perfectly formed sculptures, created from a single mass-produced item. All of the content, except for the coatings on some works, is salvaged or recycled material, including the custom-made plinths. The hand-made steel sculptures are finished in a variety of coatings including 24 carat gold, powder and acrylic spray paint. The works hover between abstraction and representation, allowing for individual reflection. With a sense of vulnerability and balance, inspired by concerns over environmental and excessive consumption, the sculptures hold their own through a celebration of the prosaic, materiality and exuberance.
